WSOPE: Main Event Kicks Off, Ravnak and Puetz Set the Pace on Day 1A

Poker players from around the globe gathered yesterday in the tournament hall of King’s Resort, where the WSOPE series’ Main Event officially kicked off. Each player willing to pay the €10,350 buy-in faced seven 90-minute levels, offering plenty of room to showcase their A-game.

The field was graced with numerous well-known names: Sorel Mizzi, Ren Lin, Dominik Panka, previous winner Max Neugebauer, Vivian Saliba, Shaun Deeb, and Viktor Blom – just a glimpse of the star-studded lineup. Yesterday's field included many WSOP bracelet holders, underscoring the event’s high caliber.

While Swede “Isildur1” navigated the day with 306,700 and Deeb packed away 270,400, Czech showman Martin Kabrhel didn’t secure a passage to Day 2. Prominent on the leaderboard was fresh Colossus champion José Gomez Casillas (665,500), along with German Christopher Puetz, who enjoyed a successful day (679,000).

What’s Next

The second starting flight 1B is scheduled for today at 12:00, with the same structure: a starting stack of 100,000, 90-minute levels, and the day ending after level 7. Late registration remains open until the end of Level 12, spanning five levels into Sunday’s Day 2. Today will also feature a series of live streams covering Day 1B starting at 16:30.
