WSOPC Rozvadov: Claudio Di Giacomo Dominates Main Event Finale

Although this year's €1,500 WSOPC Main Event at King's Resort Rozvadov saw just 544 entries and couldn't meet the million-euro guarantee, it still delivered a world-class event filled with thrilling poker. After three days of play, the field was narrowed down to a final eight, led by chipleader Volodymyr Kokoulin going into the battle for the championship ring.

The final table kicked off yesterday at 1:00 PM and brought players and spectators a tense nine-hour conclusion to the entire festival. As usual, you could watch it live via the stream, available for replay here:

A packed rail and numerous viewers in front of screens cheered on the two local players, but neither reached the winner's podium — both fell at the hands of Di Giacomo. Ondřej Már first clashed with his set of sixes against the Italian's flush, finishing 6th for €29,000. Shortly after, Zdeněk Žiška, with a bold 4-bet shove holding A5, couldn't push Di Giacomo's AJ out of the game and took home €39,000 for fifth place.

Former chipleader Volodymyr Kokoulin was the fourth to leave, converting his chip lead into a respectable €53,500. The figurative bronze medal went to Ukraine, thanks to Taras Sopotnytskyi (€76,000).

In the final heads-up match, Di Giacomo faced Germany's Stefan Aprile. Starting with a 3:2 advantage, the stacks soon evened out, leading to an over-hour-long duel. The decisive hand on the turn Q d 9 c 6 s 3 h saw Aprile push his last 10bb with 9 d 7 d, only for Di Giacomo to reveal his pair of K d K h. Neither a nine nor a seven appeared on the river, securing the victory for Di Giacomo. Runner-up Stefano Aprile took home €111,000, but the title, ring, and €165,000 prize belonged to Claudio Di Giacomo. Congratulations!
