Article cover

The series of five initial flights of the WSOPC Main Event produced a total of 822 entries, with 129 players advancing to Day 2. From this group, only the top 24 players progressed to Day 3, including two Slovaks, Róbert Obrtlík and Tomáš Chmela, as well as Czech representatives Michal Schuh and Zdenek Svoboda. While Tomáš Chmela became the bubble-boy of the final table after losing a flip (10th place – €10,595), the other three contested for the top rewards in the grand finale.

In this phase, Robo Obrtlík showcased bold and aggressive play, captivating the audience with his fearlessness. Obrtlík was the one to eliminate Chmela on the final table bubble with K h J h, calling his nearly 30-big blind all-in against a pair of T s T d. A dramatic runner-runner flush on the board secured the win for Obrtlík.

Entering the final table as the overall chipleader with a stack of 9,350,000, Obrtlík was followed by Czech player Michal Schuh with 8,605,000. The final nine was an international mix, featuring players from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Austria, Poland, Sweden, and Israel.

The Czech-Slovak contingent excelled in the tournament, with all three players making it to the top four. Zdenek Svoboda was the first to exit in fourth place, earning €60,050, followed closely by Michal Schuh with a prize of €82,000. This set up a Slovak-Slovenian heads-up: Obrtlík vs. Olivo.

Róbert Obrtlík entered this heads-up with a 3:1 chip lead and made full use of his advantage. After just ten minutes, Olivo went all-in with a pair of 2 d 2 c. Obrtlík, holding 4 h 4 c, called. The board remained unchanged, and Erik Olivo took home €120,700 for second place.
