Harald Sammer Experienced Déjà Vu, But This Time with a Winning Twist

German pro Harald “Cut3pOTTER” Sammer achieved a career-defining success by winning the record-breaking $5,300 WSOP Super Circuit Main Event in Cyprus. Out of a massive field of 1,372 entries, he navigated a challenging path to the pinnacle, and after defeating Austrian Daniel Rezaei in heads-up, he took home $1,000,000 and a prestigious WSOPC ring.

This marks Sammer's first major career title. His previous notable live tournament result came in 2018 when he made the final table of the WSOP Monster Stack Event but was eliminated in eighth place after an unlucky coinflip — AK versus QQ. The same scenario occurred in this Cyprus final, but this time, Sammer was on the winning end.

In the heads-up, Sammer faced a significant chip disadvantage against tournament favorite Daniel Rezaei, who started with a lead of 54 million to 14 million chips. However, Sammer quickly caught up and turned the match in his favor. In the decisive hand, Rezaei went all-in with A c K h, and Sammer swiftly called with Q s Q d. The board Q h 6 c T c 9 h 2 h produced no drama, and Sammer could start celebrating his title.

Despite the heads-up loss, Rezaei recorded another excellent result in an exceptionally successful year of 2025. In August, he dominated the Onyx Super High Roller at the same venue at Merit Royal Hotel, earning more than a million dollars, and secured a third-place finish in Las Vegas' Wynn with another seven-figure score.

The Sole Female Triumph: Thanks to Yuxi Huang

Chinese player Yuxi Huang showcased an impressive performance in Event #13: $2,200 6-Max NLH, and as the only woman to win a gold ring at the festival. Huang topped a field of 485 entries, taking $175,000 from the $970,000 prizepool.

For the young Chinese player, this is a career-best result. She surpassed strong international competitors, including seasoned players like Shyngis Satubayev and Roman Korenev.

Her victory underscores the growing influence of female players on the scene, as well as the increasing competition from China in the poker world.
