Article cover

Once again, the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas are hosting the action, as the WSOP 2025 runs from May 27 through July 16. This year’s schedule features a record-breaking 100 bracelet events—the largest lineup in series history. Organizers are pushing the boundaries yet again, promising a festival packed with excitement, surprises, and battles for millions in prize money.

Million-Dollar Drama Right From Day One

The cards were in the air last night as the festival kicked off with two opening tournaments. Leading the charge was the traditional $500 Industry Employees event—a tribute to everyone who keeps the poker world running behind the scenes. This opener drew 914 entries and built a $402,617 prize pool, with 140 players still in contention. The eventual winner will take home $64,369 and a coveted WSOP bracelet, whose 2025 design has already been revealed:

Meanwhile, Day 1A of the $1,000 Mystery Millions event also got underway, drawing an impressive 1,329 entries right out of the gate. This tournament doesn’t just offer a guaranteed $1,000,000 first prize; two mystery bounties worth $1,000,000 each are also up for grabs, bringing a unique blend of strategy and suspense to the field. After the first day’s action, 70 players advanced through the unforgiving gauntlet.

Main Event Still on the Horizon

The climax of the series—the iconic $10,000 Main Event—kicks off July 2, with the final table taking place on July 16. After last year’s record-shattering 10,112 entries and a prize pool topping $94 million, expectations are rising that WSOP will once again outdo itself, with even bigger numbers on the horizon.

WSOP headlines made waves even before cards hit the felt, with Phil Hellmuth delivering a bombshell: for the first time since 1988, he announced he’ll be skipping the Main Event this year, citing overwhelming pressure and mental fatigue. The “Poker Brat” had called on organizers to add a rest day after Day 5 or 6, but his request went unheeded. Still, much of the poker community is betting that Hellmuth won't actually miss the game’s biggest stage, and we may very well see him at the Main Event again this year after all.
