Poker enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the end of 2025, bringing a showdown of the WPT, EPT, and WSOP series. The prestigious WPT World Championship series returns to the luxurious Wynn resort for its fourth year, running from December 2 to December 22, 2025.
This year's WPT festival boasts a record 78 tournaments of various formats, catering to players of all levels with buy-ins ranging from $600 to $25,800. The schedule offers a diverse array of NLH, PLO, and Mixed tournaments, numerous satellites (starting at $200), and several special events.
Main Event with a $10,400 Buy-in
The WPT World Championship Main Event traditionally garners the most attention—a festival highlight with a $10,400 buy-in. Kicking off on Saturday, December 13, it features three opening flights (December 13, 14, and 15) to accommodate massive interest. All advancing players will converge on Day Two on December 16, with action intensifying until the final table on December 21, followed by a one-day break before the grand finale. Although there's no official guarantee, last year's winner Scott Stewart took home $2,563,900 after conquering a field of 2,392 entries.
Apart from the Main Event, the WPT Prime Championship marks another festival pinnacle—a more accessible “major” with a $1,100 buy-in. Despite its lower entry fee, this tournament carries an impressive $5,000,000 guarantee, anticipating thousands of participants. It starts on December 7, with the final table set for December 20, just before the Main Event finale. Last year's winner Zak VanKeuren walked away with over $1.16 million, illustrating that even “lower” categories can yield fabulous winnings.
A Diverse Program from Start to Finish
The series opens with a grand Opening Event on December 2—an NLH tournament with an affordable $800 buy-in but a tempting $1,000,000 guarantee.
For those craving the highest stakes, WPT has prepared two exclusive High Roller tournaments. During the festival's final days, two events with a massive $25,800 buy-in will be held—first on December 17-18, and the second on December 18-19.
WPT World Championship also includes special events for different player groups, which have become festival favorites. Women will have their spotlight in the Ladies Championship, a two-day tournament starting with a $1,100 buy-in and a $250,000 guaranteed prizepool. A few days later, senior players can shine in the Seniors Championship (for players aged 50+), taking place December 18-20, also with a $1,100 buy-in and a generous $500,000 guarantee.
Mystery Bounty tournaments, a popular recent addition, will be present again in 2025. In the WPT World Championship schedule, several such tournaments are planned, including the traditional $1,600 NLH Mystery Bounty with a $1,000,000 GTD. For the first time, a $1,600 PLO Mystery Bounty (December 7-8) will cater to Omaha enthusiasts. Many other formats return, from numerous Pot Limit Omaha tournaments (4-card and 5-card) to an expanded mix game offering like H.O.R.S.E and 8-Game.
