Triton Montenegro: A Debut for Seth Davies, a Record-Breaking Invitational Event, and the Return of Gambledore

Article cover

Every serious poker fan knows that Montenegro is currently hosting the latest stop of the ultra-luxurious Triton series, bringing together the world’s elite pros and thrill-seeking millionaires. In our last article, we covered the first three champions—one of whom made history as the first woman ever to win a Triton event.

Event #5 – Jesse Lonis and the Bounty Bonanza

American Jesse Lonis stole the spotlight in the 40.000$ Mystery Bounty event, which drew a strong field of 129 entries. This format adds a twist to the usual grind: players not only compete for the traditional prize pool but also hunt down mystery bounty envelopes worth up to 500.000$.

Lonis went on a tear, eliminating seven opponents and raking in a massive 800.000$ in bounty rewards. After defeating Israeli pro Barak Wisbrod heads-up, Lonis walked away with a total haul of 1.419.000$. Following the win, he humbly noted he’s “not some GTO wizard,” but rather a feel player who trusts his reads—and this time, that instinct paid off in a big way.

Event #6 – Seth Davies Finally Breaks the Curse

Seth Davies has long been one of the most consistent high-stakes performers, but a Triton title had eluded him—until now. That changed in the 50.000$ 8-Handed event, where Davies finally captured his first Triton trophy after an incredible 36 cashes and 16 final tables.

With 143 players in the mix, Davies earned 1.490.741$ for his breakthrough victory. He outlasted Belarusian Danila Velasevic, who collected 1.298.259$ as runner-up. Clearly emotional, Davies said, “It’s a relief. I was starting to think Triton had it in for me.”

Event #7 – Wai Kiat Lee Turns on the Turbo

Malaysia’s Wai Kiat Lee once again proved he’s a force in fast-paced formats. In the 30.000$ No-Limit Hold'em Turbo event, he bested a 71-player field to secure a 586.000$ payday. This win followed his victory in another Turbo event just a day earlier—an ultra-rare back-to-back achievement on the Triton circuit.

Lee defeated DoorDash co-founder and billionaire Stanley Tang (416.000$) heads-up. His fearless aggression and relentless 3-bets fueled his run, prompting many to liken him to “the Asian Mikita Badziakouski”—explosive, unreadable, and built for speed.

Event #8 – Record-Breaking Invitational Event and the Return of Gambledore

This year’s 200.000$ Triton Invitational smashed expectations. With 96 players generating 132 total entries, it officially became the largest high roller tournament in Triton history. Designed to mix top-tier professionals with handpicked business moguls and celebrities, the event began with separate player pools before merging for Day 2.

Out of the initial field, 86 players advanced past Day 1. Among those falling short were familiar names like Rob Yong, Orpen Kisacikoglu, and Ike Haxton. Meanwhile, the remaining field includes stars such as Fedor Holz, Nick Petrangelo, Alex Foxen, Chris Brewer, Patrik Antonius, and world number one Bryn Kenney.

Adding extra flair to the field is the return of Estonian enigma Vladimir “Gambledore” Korzinin. Known for his fearless and unconventional style, Gambledore turned heads during last year’s Triton run, and he’s poised for another deep performance—bagging the 19th biggest stack at 82 big blinds heading into Day 2.

Triton Montenegro is far from over. Still to come are major showdowns like the 100.000$ No-Limit Hold’em and the highly anticipated 150.000$ Main Event—where attendance is expected to break records once again. One thing’s for sure: Triton continues to deliver drama, spectacle, and unforgettable poker. And as always, we’ll be here to bring you the best of it.
