Joni Jouhkimainen Breaks the Curse with First Triton Title in $75K PLO
In the final evening of the Triton Super High Roller Series in Jeju, fortune finally shone on Finland. Joni Jouhkimainen, a long-time PLO specialist and currently the second-best Finn by career earnings (still trailing the legendary Patrik Antonius with $20 million), broke his streak of tournaments without an ITM finish to become the new Triton champion. He stood out in Event #16: $75K PLO 6-Handed, navigating through 67 entries and walking away with a career-best $1,381,000 from a $5,025,000 prize pool.
The final table showcased PLO's volatility - the average stack often dropped to around 13 big blinds, and nearly every all-in resulted in a double-up. "It was the craziest final table I've ever experienced," Jouhkimainen confessed after his victory. "I'm lucky to be the one standing as the winner at the end."
The competition featured big names like Isaac Haxton, fresh off his PLO Main Event victory, Jason Koon, and Danny Tang. Ultimately, it was Tang who reached heads-up, but he stood no chance against the Finnish avalanche. In their first hand, Tang lost with 6 h J h J d K h against Jouhkimainen's hand, which formed two pairs with 3 d 6 d 9 c A c.

Ding Biao Defends $50K PLO Title and Secures Third Triton Win
Chinese poker star Ding Biao achieved what few can in Jeju - defending a title in one of Triton's most prestigious events. In Event #15: $50K PLO 6-Handed, he outplayed 64 entries, pocketing $880,000 from a $3,200,000 prize pool, and solidifying his position as the second most successful Chinese player in Triton history. Only Triton Million champion Aaron Zang stands ahead of him.
The path to his third title was challenging, yet Ding exuded confidence and dominance at the table. The final lineup boasted top talents - from American PLO specialist Ben Tollerene, Canadian high roller Dan Dvoress, to the fresh Event #13 winner Artur Martirosian. Martirosian, aiming for back-to-back titles, was the first to exit, finishing seventh.
The biggest threat for Ding was Spanish pro Lautaro Guerra, who had already claimed a Triton title in Jeju earlier this year. However, the heads-up match concluded faster than expected. Ding ended the tournament with a straight, leaving Guerra without a chance to stage a comeback.

Gergo Nagy Grabs Second Triton Title
As the festival drew to a close, Gergo Nagy stepped into the spotlight. The Hungarian PLO specialist made a remarkable run and secured his second Triton title in Event #17: $30K PLO Bounty Quattro Turbo. This victory came with $510,000, including generous bounty rewards.
The final event of this year's series attracted 54 entries and was packed with star talent. In the final showdown, Nagy faced off against the likes of Alex Foxen, Artur Martirosian, and Paul Phua, a founding member of Triton aiming for his second title. The finale ended with a rapid heads-up against David Wang, who was playing his second final table of the day, having finished 7th in the $75K PLO earlier.

Nagy thus crowned the festival, demonstrating tremendous consistency throughout. "It was a wild roller coaster. The start was tough, but then everything smoothed out. I caught strong hands and played solidly," he said after his win. With this victory, Nagy surpassed the $5 million mark in live tournament earnings, moving him to third place on Hungary's all-time money list (only behind László Bujtas - $10.7m and András "probirs" Németh - $7m).
