Triton Jeju: Mokri and Pavicevic Claim Second Titles, Main Event Kicks Off

Mokri Rises from the Ashes to Secure Second Title

The $150K NLH 8-Handed event, the largest at Triton SHRS Jeju so far, delivered true drama filled with relentless comebacks and thrilling coin flips. With 114 entries (including 43 re-entries), the prize pool soared to an impressive $17,100,000.

Mokri started the final table as the chipleader but soon fell to just two blinds. However, he doubled his stack five times in quick succession and regained control of the tournament. “It was insane. Probably the craziest poker I've ever played for this kind of money. I felt like I doubled up five times in nine hands and suddenly I was back on top,” said the 31-year-old Norwegian pro after his victory.

In heads-up play, Mokri faced off against Mosböck, who had a similar rollercoaster journey in the finale. Perhaps due to the tournament's unpredictability, they decided to make a deal, both securing over 3 million dollars. Mokri emerged victorious in the decisive hand, capturing his second Triton title and a $3,835,059 prize.

Pavicevic Strikes Again, Secures Second Triton Title

While some players wait years for a major win, Aleksa Pavicevic is on an incredible streak. Out of two Triton events he played, he claimed victories in both. In May, he dominated the Triton Invitational in Budva, pocketing $6,180,000. Now, he made an impromptu appearance at the $50K Turbo Bounty Quattro in Jeju and won again, adding another $1,261,000 to his bankroll.

“Unbelievable. What are the odds this would happen? I don't know. I'm blessed, probably blessed,” Pavicevic exclaimed right after his triumph. The champion from Montenegro admitted he hadn't planned to play: “I've been focusing on cash games lately, but today was slow, so I decided to join the tournament and ended up winning.”

The format seemed to suit him perfectly: “It's a one-day event, so it's a gamble, lots of all-ins and bounties. Perfect structure.” The final table witnessed crazy upsets and comebacks. In the last hand against Badziakouski, Pavicevic held J s J d against A d 9 c, and his pair held strong. For Mikita, it marked his third final in a week, yet his sixth Triton title eluded him once more.

Main Event Begins – Prize Pool at $23 Million

Yesterday, the Triton Jeju NLHE Main Event kicked off, quickly ranking among the series' largest tournaments, though it didn't surpass the record-breaking Main Event from March's Triton in Jeju. With a $100,000 buy-in, there were 228 entries, creating a massive $22,800,000 prize pool.

The winner will take home $4,570,000, and seven finalists will earn seven-figure payouts.

After Day 1, 57 players remain, with Jason Koon leading the charge. The most successful player in Triton history, the American pro has 12 Triton titles in his repertoire, far outpacing his competitors. Five players tie for second with five titles each. Koon’s collection also includes two Main Event titles from the 2023 Triton Series in Cyprus and London.
