After the Triton Invitational and the NLH Main Event, the action in Montenegro was still far from over. The series rolled into its PLO phase, but before that there was still a "farewell" NLH event with a 150.000$ buy-in. The tournament drew 108 entries, generating a massive 16.200.000$ prize pool. The final table was stacked with elite talent, including Phil Ivey, Matthias Eibinger, and Isaac Haxton, delivering must-watch action for fans tuning into the live stream.

Emotional Heads-Up

The finale had all the drama you could ask for – sky-high payouts, a star-studded lineup, and a deeply personal showdown. After Phil Ivey busted in 4th place and Wayne Heung followed in 3rd, the heads-up came down to two longtime friends and sparring partners – Jason Koon and Ben Tollerene. Before their duel began, the two agreed to an ICM deal: Tollerene locked up 3.437.344$, Koon secured 3.263.656$, with 130.000$ and the trophy still up for grabs.

The final hand came shortly after the deal. Koon held pocket sixes 6 s 6 d, while Tollerene had A s 9 c. Both decided to get all the chips in pre-flop and went side by side for this coinflip. The flop, turn, and river didn't help Tollerene, so Koon's pocket sixes held through this confrontation and secured him the win.

“I had to beat the greatest player of all time,” Koon said after his win. “I got heads-up with my best friend and mentor. Twelve years ago, when I first saw what it meant to be an elite player, it was thanks to Ben. Honestly, I never thought I’d be the one standing here.”

With this triumph, Koon moved up to fifth on poker’s all-time live tournament earnings list, surpassing 65 million dollars in total winnings. As for the Triton leaderboard, his 11 titles are unmatched – no one else has more than five!

Punnat Punsri Claims Fourth Title

As mentioned earlier, Triton Montenegro shifted gears from NLH to PLO with Event #13 – a 25.000$ buy-in tournament. The four-card enthusiasts came out in force, racking up 84 entries and creating a 2.1-million-dollar prize pool for the top 15 finishers.

Thailand’s Punnat Punsri emerged victorious, claiming his fourth Triton title after besting a stacked final table that included Isaac Haxton and Alex Foxen. He defeated Martin Dam in heads-up and pocketed 550.000$ for the win – his first in a PLO format.  “This is a huge moment in my career,” Punsri said afterward. “PLO is a game I love, and I’m proud to have succeeded at this level.” His latest win underscores his versatility and ability to dominate across different poker variants.
