Sanderson Captures London PartyPoker Tour Main Event: A 5-Way Deal and a Comeback for the Title

Article cover

The PartyPoker Tour, a fresh live series, hit the UK in its inaugural 2025 season with five stops – starting in London and moving through Manchester, Glasgow, and Birmingham, before returning to London for a grand finale in December. The series targets a broad player base with accessible events like the £500 Main Event and £150 Mini Main Event. Qualifying for live festivals starts from just £0.20, making the tour open not only to professionals but to the entire community.

The main event of the London finale produced 399 entries, creating a prize pool worth £177,555. Sixteen players returned for the final day, with every blind fiercely contested from the start. The final table featured an international lineup, and after Danny Tran exited in 6th place, a dramatic 5-way deal was reached.

The deal guaranteed each participant around £15,000, but £9,000 and the trophy were still on the line. Antonis Poulengeris of the UK made a storming run, finding premium hands at the right times. He eliminated Kartik, broke through Marshall, and knocked out Zahmat, entering heads-up with nearly a 2:1 chip lead.

However, his compatriot Sanderson was not to be broken. He gradually shifted the dynamics and, at the crucial moment, in a preflop all-in, Poulengeris's A c 8 c was disadvantaged against Sanderson’s A h Q c, and the board K c J s 9 s 6 h T s confirmed his victory. Sanderson claimed the trophy and the £27,780 prize, while Poulengeris, as the runner-up, took home £17,680.

Final Table Results:

Position Player Country Amount
1 Thomas Sanderson United Kingdom £27,780*
2 Antonis Poulengeris United Kingdom £17,680*
3 Siwash Zahmat Netherlands £14,510*
4 James Marshall United Kingdom £15,080*
5 Kartik Kartik India £15,450*
6 Danny Tran United Kingdom £7,350
7 Andre Leal Portugal £5,650
8 Max Burney United Kingdom £4,450
9 Purev Sanjurev Mongolia £3,405

After the final card, Sanderson couldn't hide his joy and admitted he was lost for words. The trophy meant a lot to him, especially since he's primarily a Spin & Go professional. His entry to the event was secured through a bonus program earned by accumulated rake. He praised the series, having attended three stops this year, appreciating the friendly atmosphere and the structures that offer plenty of play for reasonable money. When asked about his early Christmas present, he laughed: the first £500 would likely disappear that evening on a few pints, with perhaps a bigger reward to come later.
