From Pool Halls to Poker Fame

Schulman's journey to the top began at the pool tables in New York, where he first honed his competitive instincts. He entered the professional poker world at the age of 19, and just two years later, made headlines when he captured the WPT World Poker Finals title in 2005. At only 21, Schulman took home a staggering 2.167.600$, setting the record at the time as the youngest-ever WPT champion.

His first WSOP bracelet came in 2009, when he conquered the 10.000$ No-Limit 2-7 Draw event. He would follow up with more gold in 2012, 2019 and 2023. That was just the beginning—between 2024 and 2025, Schulman added three more bracelets, pushing his career live tournament earnings well above the 24-million-dollar mark.

Beyond his tournament success, Schulman has long been a fixture in the legendary high-stakes cash games at Bobby’s Room in Bellagio. Among poker insiders, his mixed game skills draw frequent comparison to icons like Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey. Schulman has always embraced all forms of poker, thriving in lesser-known and specialized formats just as much as the main stage.

Contributions Beyond the Felt

But Schulman's legacy goes far beyond his results at the tables. He's earned a devoted following as a sharp and insightful analyst, regularly partnering with Ali Nejad on live WSOP broadcasts for PokerGO. Schulman's commentary consistently delivers real value to audiences, deepening the viewing experience and earning him industry accolades such as Broadcaster of the Year at the American Poker Awards (2017) and Global Poker Awards (2019).

Back in May, Schulman was officially announced among the Poker Hall of Fame nominees—having just met the minimum age requirement, turning 40. His induction is all the more remarkable considering the strength of this year’s field, which included legends like Patrik Antonius, Scott Seiver, Phil Galfond, and Mike Matusow.

An Emotional Family Affair

As announced at the WSOP, Schulman’s Hall of Fame induction took place during a special $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty event. Before cards were in the air, WSOP Executive Director Jack Effel welcomed Nick to the stage, officially declaring him the Hall’s newest member and presenting him with a one-of-a-kind trophy. With the crowd erupting and emotions running high among his family and friends, Schulman delivered a short but heartfelt speech.

“I understand how tough the Hall of Fame is. I know so many extraordinary people and players never get in. That only makes me appreciate this honor more. I want to thank my parents for always believing in me—not everyone is so lucky. Thank you to my amazing wife, Jess, you inspire me and make me better. And to my smart and wonderful daughter—I love you both.” Schulman ended with a trademark smile: “Shuffle up and deal!”
