The World Poker Tour kicked off its 2026 season in exotic Cambodia, featuring a total of 72 events. The main attraction was the popular Prime Championship with a $1,100 buy-in, drawing 1,095 entries. The prize pool soared to $1,062,150, with the largest shares distributed during yesterday’s final day.

Only 15 players returned for the final day, and in just under seven hours, one name remained. South Korean player Hwisoo Kim entered the final table as the chipleader, followed by Filipino Jan Leoncio, but neither appeared in the winner's photo.

A dominant presence on this table was Joshua Figuerres from the Philippines. Starting as a middle stack, he played actively and aggressively, making life difficult for his opponents. However, he was no match for one player—after Russian Andrei Kalgin eliminated Pang Kok Yong in third place, he entered heads-up against Figuerres with a 3:1 advantage.

Although the active Figuerres managed to cut the deficit to 2:1, he couldn't complete the comeback. The dealer set up a scenario where all the chips went in preflop—Figuerres held Q c Q h against Kalgin’s A h J s. A potential double-up could have shifted the chiplead in his favor, but fate intervened. The flop came down T d Q d K h, giving Kalgin a straight against Figuerres’s set.

Figuerres needed the board to pair, but it didn’t happen. The board completed with 9 s and J h, sealing the win for Kalgin, who took home $154,170, while Figuerres earned $103,000 for second place. In addition to the trophy, Andrei Kalgin secured a $10,400 entry to the December WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas.
