A Marathon Battle for the Title
While the early stages of the final table were swift, with the first five players exiting within 50 hands, the concluding heads-up was a true strategic duel. Pansier and Steinbrenner faced off for over four hours, engaging in more than 90 hands, with the chiplead swinging back and forth.
In a post-match interview, Pansier admitted that a bit of luck at crucial moments was key to his success. The victory is particularly valuable for him as it nearly doubles his lifetime tournament earnings.
In the final hand of the tournament, both players went all-in on a flop of Q c 5 s 4 s. Justin Steinbrenner hit a set with Q d 5 h 5 c 4 d, while Nino Pansier had a flush draw with A s T d 9 d 8 s. The turn T s completed Pansier's flush and the river 6 d did not alter the outcome.
