The world's elite flocked to the Onyx Club to compete for shares of the $4,800,000 prize pool, which swelled thanks to 95 entries.
The final day kicked off with the last eight players, led by chipleader Tom Vogelsang. The path to the final table was rocky for many. Austrian pro Thomas Muehloecker was the first to bid farewell, starting with fewer than two big blinds and finishing in 8th place with a $175,000 prize.
He was followed by Chao Shen (7th place) and Igor Yaroshevskyy (6th place), who managed to survive several critical situations but eventually lost with top pair against his opponent's two pair. When Sergio Fernandez exited in 5th place, four players remained in a showdown that would be long remembered.
"Witchcraft" in Live Action
The highlight of the evening was a moment dubbed "pure witchcraft" by commentators. Matthias Eibinger made an incredible hero call against Joseph Orin. On a board threatening straights and strong pairs, Eibinger called a nearly pot-sized bet with just a pair of eights. This move stunned not only his opponents but also the viewers of the live stream, confirming Eibinger's extraordinary skill level. After this, the Austrian took control, steadily increasing his stack.
Shortly after, a surprising end came for Tom Vogelsang. In a massive pot, he handed all his chips to Eibinger, falling in an unexpected 4th place with a $430,000 prize. With Eibinger then holding over 70 percent of the chips, he swiftly eliminated Joseph Orin, entering heads-up with a huge lead against the popular YoH ViraL.
Heads-Up and the Winning Hand
Although Johan "YoH ViraL" Guilbert fought valiantly and made several impressive plays, Eibinger's dominance and favorable cards were unbeatable on this day.
In the tournament's final hand, Matthias Eibinger went all-in with 8 c 7 s. Guilbert called with 7 h 7 c and watched as the board T d 8 h 4 c 3 c 8 s dealt fate, securing the title for the Austrian. Matthias Eibinger added another prestigious triumph to his collection, alongside his WSOP Paradise bracelet from late last year, and claimed a $1,250,000 win.
