The Main Event of the PartyPoker Tour in Birmingham saw 343 entries, comfortably surpassing the £100,000 guarantee. The prize pool reached £152,635, with the winner taking home £27,420. It was the second-largest Main Event of this year's series, only surpassed by April's PartyPoker London event. The final table kicked off on Sunday afternoon under the bright camera lights, as nine finalists battled for the trophy and a five-figure prize.
The tournament started with a quick pace as Tony Pearce finished ninth, followed shortly by Timothy Slater, Nicholas Gott, and Michael Casson. Local Birmingham player Joshua Curry was one of the festival's pleasant surprises, earning £8,390 for his fifth-place finish. After his victory in the Mini Main Event, Robert Douras sought another trophy but concluded the tournament in fourth place. The bronze medal went to James Fowler, setting the stage for a heads-up showdown.
Hoang's Sweet Redemption
The heads-up match between Tai Hoang and Jiten Chauhan began with nearly even stacks. Hoang quickly took two small pots and twenty minutes later hit a straight on the river, gaining a 3:1 lead. Chauhan attempted to change the pace with limps, but Hoang maintained relentless pressure all the way to victory.
In the final hand, both players went all-in preflop: Chauhan showed Q h J h, while Hoang held A c 3 c. The board brought no help to Chauhan, leaving Hoang's story to shine. Just days before, he was a disappointed hero after losing a heads-up in the Mini Main Event against Robert Douras on the first hand. But in the Main Event, Hoang navigated every critical spot, ultimately becoming the standout player of the series — a tale Birmingham will remember for a long time.
