A Name Making Headlines Worldwide
Jeffrey Epstein was an American financier who spent years building a network of connections among politicians, businessmen, and celebrities. At the same time, according to investigators, he ran a system of sexual abuse and trafficking of underage girls. In 2008, he pled guilty to a charge related to sexual abuse of a minor, and years later, in 2019, he faced federal court again over numerous counts (he died in custody in August 2019).
The latest wave of controversy and attention was sparked by a new U.S. law – the Epstein Files Transparency Act – which mandated the Department of Justice to release unclassified materials related to the case. Consequently, on January 30, 2026, the Department of Justice announced the release of approximately 3.5 million pages (plus thousands of videos and hundreds of thousands of images) to comply with the law.
However, not everything can be disclosed: some materials are withheld to protect victims, due to content involving child sexual abuse, and legal privileged information. After years, the public is gaining access to hundreds of names connected to Epstein, even if some were just mentioned. Among these names is legendary poker player Daniel Negreanu.
“I Really Didn’t Expect This”
One of the most renowned poker players in history, Daniel Negreanu, announced on his own X account that several acquaintances had sent him a particular document where his name appeared. However, it wasn’t straightforward, as his name was misspelled as “Negranau.”
Welp, looks like I made it into the Epstein files, but they butchered my last name.

Didn’t have this on my bingo card! 😂https://t.co/rLDv8uCUFC
Fortunately, Negreanu's name appears only as a mention in an email exchange where Epstein discusses poker and study after a poker game. Austin Hill writes to Epstein, saying it was fun playing poker with him and suggests that if he wants to improve, he should watch an instructional video by Daniel. As Daniel wittily commented: “I didn’t have this on my bingo card.”
