GTO Wizard now aims to address this common issue. It has added a multiway preflop solver to its toolkit—a feature designed to handle preflop situations for up to nine players, offering solutions not just for heads-up scenarios but for typical spots with three, four, or even five players involved.
Beyond Charts: Tailored Solutions for Specific Games
The major change is that the preflop strategy is no longer just a static set of charts. The multiway preflop engine is crafted to adapt to game parameters: rake settings, ante, types of straddles (including variations like Mississippi), number of players, and stack sizes. The aim is clear—to bridge players closer to what they truly need: understanding how optimal strategies shift under the conditions they actually play, not some sterile model.
Practical application requires speed as well. Calculations are cloud-based and accessible directly in your browser, an ideal scenario for on-the-go learning and quick spot verification during real sessions.
New Layer of Insights, Decisions, and Pricing
In multiway preflop situations, almost everything changes: the value of marginal hands, call frequencies, 3-bet ranges, and how much the rake can 'eat' into your profits. A player accustomed to the simple rule of 'open with X, defend with Y' might suddenly find that in certain rake structures and with a straddle in play, some calls just aren’t profitable—or conversely, certain hands gain value because they more frequently go multiway.
However, this new functionality comes with a significant shift in monetization. The multiway preflop solver is linked to a new top-tier package called Ultra. It's priced at $229 per month for the annual plan ($2,748 annually) or $279 for monthly payments. The previous highest package was priced at $129 monthly, marking a notable increase.

There's also talk behind the scenes that this is just an introductory price, potentially set to rise further—and Ultra is expected to be the platform where future 'top' features for advanced users will appear.
To prevent a 'pay first, find out later' scenario, the tool allows testing of the multiway preflop engine outside Ultra, but with significant limitations—calculations are only available for stacks up to 10bb. It's more of a demo, showcasing the speed and principles of operation, but full-scale study for cash games or deep live tournaments remains locked behind the most expensive barrier.
Who Benefits Most?
Ultra and the multiway preflop solver target a very specific group of players: those who regularly grind cash games or live games with unconventional mechanics, higher rake, and frequent multiway pots. Here, details matter greatly. Knowing when to still defend a blind, when to fold even a 'nice' hand, and how calling changes against an open when more players can join behind you.
On the other hand, for most recreational players and tournament grinders, it will primarily be a question of ROI. Will this tool deliver real added value to them, or will they stick with more affordable solutions and traditional study methods? One thing is certain: preflop strategy is once again moving closer to reality.
