The PLO Grand Slam, under the banner of the Diamond Poker Series, arrives in Malta with a concept of a grand 'Omaha' festival centered around seven elite PLO tournaments. Organizers are enticing players with guarantees exceeding €3,000,000 across the series, headlined by events such as the €10,000 Championship with a €1,000,000 GTD, the €5,000 Million also with €1,000,000 GTD, and the €15,000 PKO High Roller offering €300,000 GTD.
The Diamond Poker Series kicked off the PLO Grand Slam event as a high roller debut should be – with a small field but strong international participation and intense pressure from the first hand. The €15,000+300 PLO PKO event attracted a total of 21 entries (17 players and 4 re-entries), and the prizepool climbed to €308,700, with €105,000 allocated to progressive bounties and the rest divided among the top three finishers.
German grinder Jonas Kronwitter made it to the final showdown but faced Gergő Nagy, who was in exceptional form, during heads-up play. The Hungarian maintained his pace and secured the opening title of the series. Nagy took home €106,950 for first place, while Kronwitter claimed €61,100 for the runner-up position, and Finnish PLO specialist Aki Vihikainen finished third, earning €35,650.
