The Grand Casino Poker Series Championship is the centerpiece of a three-part series hosted by Grand Casino Liechtenstein. The poker community has embraced the new GCPS series since the Master event held last month. The inaugural tournament attracted a total of 1,003 entries, fully meeting the CHF 300,000 guarantee. In an exciting finale, French player Mathieu Choffardet emerged victorious, taking home over 50,570 CHF.
Choffardet, known as a poker YouTuber and esteemed coach, not only won a valuable trophy but also secured a seat in the current Championship with a CHF 500,000 guarantee. Yesterday, he successfully turned this opportunity into a Day 2 spot during flight 1B, bagging the third-largest stack at 714,000.
Yesterday and Tuesday saw familiar faces from the European poker scene, along with many new ambitious players, competing for half a million francs. From these flights, 21 players earned their way to Day 2, including several notable names. Among them is local Ramon Lampert (CH) – a regular sight at Grand Casino’s tables almost every week. Veteran Gerd Hoerburger (AT) made his way from neighboring Austria, and Michael Stern (CH) also advanced from 1B, representing the Swiss poker scene. Leading the pack is Slovak player “SKAP,” who secured an impressive chip lead with 871,000.
