The Grand Casino Liechtenstein witnessed a spectacular second event of the Grand Casino Poker Series (GCPS) under the Championship banner. The tournament featured a guaranteed prize pool of 500,000 CHF and attracted a total of 1,070 entries, surpassing expectations.
After a decisive Day 2, the top nine players advanced to the grand finale, each assured at least 6,500 CHF. However, the champion of this tournament was set to claim a prize of 88,000 CHF, ensuring an exciting live stream for viewers.
Another French Triumph
Entering the final day as chipleader was a Swiss player known as Rocky, joined by local regulars Ramon Lampert and Nexo Xela. Yet, they faced tough competition from three skilled French players, including last September’s GCPS Master event champion Mathieu Choffardet.
Choffardet showcased his skills again, though he fell short of securing a second title at Grand Casino Liechtenstein. After his pocket tens ran into queens, he exited in 7th place, earning 11,600 CHF. The initial chipleader, Rocky, wrapped up his run in 6th place with a prize of 16,500 CHF.
To the disappointment of local fans, from this point on, the French dominance began. It gradually sent Ramon Lampert (21,800 CHF), Daniele Lunario (28,500 CHF), and finally, the last Swiss player to the cashier - Nexo Xela, who took third place with 37,500 CHF.
Heading into the heads-up were two Frenchmen – the experienced Deval Gouzil and his compatriot Paff. In this all-French duel for the title, Gouzil held the upper hand, swiftly reading his opponent in the third hand and deservedly taking home the winner's trophy and the grand prize of 88,000 CHF.
