A Poker Powerhouse Without Casinos
Texas is home to countless poker aficionados, yet it is also bound by some of the strictest anti-gambling laws in the United States. Traditional casino card rooms are nonexistent — replaced by membership clubs that forgo rake in favor of a membership, daily, or hourly fee structure.
Texas Card House is one of the largest and most prominent players in this niche market. The network has multiple locations across the state, and its Austin-based TCH Social will host the historic first WSOP Circuit in Texas. For the local community, this is a huge step forward. While Austin has long been a hub for major tournament series and cash game action, it has always operated somewhat "outside" the official poker establishment. The WSOP brand brings a stamp of legitimacy that players and operators in Texas have sought for years.
We've dedicated a separate article to the legal situation of poker in Texas, which you can revisit here:
From Courtrooms to Gold Rings
This is no mere coincidence, as recent legal developments confirm. Texas Card House, particularly its Dallas branch, has faced a long and noisy battle with local politicians and authorities. In September, the club won a decisive legal victory, securing the right to operate within its membership model — sending a signal that legal poker has a future in Texas.
Just a few months after this verdict, another bombshell drops: the WSOP Circuit is heading to TCH. For Caesars/WSOP, this is a clear expression of confidence in the Texas model; for Texas Card House, it's a reward for years of legal and business struggles.
According to available information, Texas Card House will become the exclusive partner for WSOP Circuit events throughout the state. The inaugural series is scheduled for the spring of 2026 at TCH Social in Austin, with exact dates and a full program to be released in the coming weeks. “I am extremely excited about this opportunity. It's something we've been working towards for a long time. It's a big day for poker in Texas,” said Ryan Crow, CEO of Texas Card House.

The WSOP Circuit at TCH Social will thus become the first gold ring not just for players, but symbolically for the entire state — an official acknowledgment that Texas is stepping into the realm of major international series, beyond its "home league" status.
A Battleground for Major Brands
Austin is already positioning itself as the epicenter of Texas poker. While WSOP joins forces with Texas Card House, the rival Lodge Card Club has already hosted WPT Prime Championship, showing that even the World Poker Tour sees tremendous potential in Texas.
The clash of major brands adds another layer to the competition. On one side is Lodge with WPT, on the other Texas Card House with the WSOP Circuit. For players, it's an ideal scenario — more major series, increased competition, and ultimately better conditions, bigger prize pools, and richer tournament schedules.
The arrival of WSOP in Texas carries symbolic weight— Texas gave the world the format that now dominates the tournament scene: no-limit Texas Hold'em. Yet paradoxically, an official WSOP event on "home turf" has been missing for years, but that is about to change. If everything goes according to plan, Austin will not only be playing for gold rings and prestige, but also taking another step toward long-term poker stability in this unique and passionate region.
