Down to the Final 52 Contenders
The EPT Monte Carlo Main Event resumed yesterday with Day 3, where players battled through eight intense levels. By the end of the day, the field had been narrowed down to the final 52 players, led by the UK’s Matthew Davenport. Big names still in contention include Boris Angelov, the controversial Nacho Barbero, and WSOPC ring record-holder Ari Engel from the U.S.
Fans will surely remember Sebastian Malec, the flamboyant Polish pro who shocked the poker world in 2016 by turning a €27 online qualifier into a €1,122,800 Main Event victory at EPT Barcelona. Since then, he’s been a regular at EPT stops, and now he's poised for another big result. Malec bagged 1,684,000 chips, putting him in third place heading into Day 4.
The Best of the Best Battle in the €50K Super High Roller
While Main Event action was underway, the prestigious €50,000 Super High Roller also played down to a winner. The event attracted 50 entries, generating a €2,425,500 prize pool. The title and a first-place prize of €788,500 went to Belarusian superstar Mikita Badziakouski, who topped a stacked final table featuring Nick Petrangelo, Christopher Nguyen, and Brian Kim.
With this victory, Badziakouski has now surpassed $62 million in career tournament earnings, placing him 4th on the global all-time money list.
