Chris Nguyen Triumphs Over Elite Field in the €100K Super High Roller

The most expensive tournament of this year’s EPT Monte Carlo series, the €100,000 Super High Roller, once again broke its previous record with 74 entries. Only six players returned for the final day, led by German pro Leon Sturm. However, Sturm couldn’t convert his lead into a victory and exited in 5th place.

The title ultimately went to Chris Nguyen, a rising star on the poker scene. Nguyen made his first appearance on the Hendon Mob database during the 2022 EPT Prague and has since delivered strong performances at events like WSOP Paradise and Triton Montenegro. His latest victory now marks the biggest win of his career — a staggering €2,022,000!

Record-Breaking Main Event?

Day 1b of the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event brought in 727 entries, pushing the total number of participants to 1,129. With late registration still open until the start of Day 2, only 79 more entries are needed to surpass last year’s record field. We’ll find out whether the record falls at the start of today’s livestream, which kicks off at 12:30 CET and marks the beginning of a five-day poker marathon.

A total of 259 players advanced from Day 1b, making it 382 survivors heading into Day 2 across both starting flights. The current chip leader is Cesar Garcia from Spain with 323,000 chips. The field is packed with international talent, including three former EPT Monte Carlo champions: Nicolas Chouity (168,500), Antonio Buonanno (88,000), and Manig Loeser (53,500).
