Scott Margereson Triumphs in Record-Breaking PS Open
The highlight of the festival's opening half was the €1,650 PS Open, which recorded a staggering 1,845 entries — the highest participation across all EPT Malta 2025 events. Consequently, the prize pool soared to an impressive €2,656,800. The tournament was won by British pro Scott Margereson, who walked away with the coveted trophy and €423,700.
In the heads-up, Margereson faced Carbo, and this duo dominated the final table, accounting for all eliminations. Carbo started the heads-up with the lead, but Margereson swiftly turned the tide. He began capturing most pots, seized a 5:1 lead, and in the decisive hand, his 7 s 6 h defeated Carbo's A d 9 d, thanks to a pair of sixes. Although Carbo didn't clinch the prestigious title, he took home €264,650 — a career-best from live tournaments.

Christopher Nguyen Prevails in Super High Roller Warm-Up
Christopher Nguyen of Germany triumphed in the €25,000 Super High Roller Warm-Up, overcoming a field of 37 entries and claiming €306,300 from a total prize pool of €888,370. His performance continues his superb streak from the March EPT in Monte Carlo, where he reached the final table three times and won the €100K Super High Roller.
The event attracted elite names from the European poker scene, resulting in only European players making it to the top 15. In the heads-up, Nguyen defeated seasoned Greek player Alexandros Theologis, who took home €199,900 and had to wait a few more days for his first EPT title.

Alexandros Theologis Secures Victory on Second Attempt
Greek pro Alexandros Theologis conquered the festival's most expensive tournament — the €100,000 Super High Roller. Amidst just 16 entries, he showcased his prowess by defeating Turkey's Orpen Kisacikoglu in a thrilling heads-up, claiming €776,200 and the prestigious trophy. The Super High Roller saw significantly lower participation than anticipated and wrapped up in only two days, instead of the planned three. The prize pool of €1,552,320 was divided among the top three players.
This marked only Theologis's second live tournament win of his career, and his victory came just days after securing second place in the Super High Roller Warm-Up. This time, he performed better in heads-up, achieving perfect revenge. The Greek player clinched the title with a fortunate river flush, securing one of the biggest wins of his career. "I feel amazing, especially having finally won a high stakes live tournament. I had great luck, what more can I say," Theologis stated after his triumph.

Hungarian Gergo Nagy on a Winning Streak
In the €10,200 Pot Limit Omaha event, Gergo Nagy emerged victorious, showcasing his prowess against top-tier specialists in the four-card format, winning €108,400 from a prize pool of €252,200. Nagy outperformed Swedish opponent Anton Suarez in the heads-up, who collected €68,100 for his second place. Norwegian Espen Myrmo, who had won the €5,200 Pot Limit Omaha event just a day earlier, finished third.
This victory marks one of Nagy's career highlights and confirms his excellent form in recent months. In August, Nagy triumphed in the same event at EPT Barcelona, and in September, he claimed his first Triton title. He is currently one of Hungary's most intriguing players, as evidenced by his leap to third place in total live tournament earnings among Hungarian players in 2025.
