Ukrainian Ostash as Chipleader, Boika Close to Legendary Feat
During Day 5 of the EPT Malta Main Event, the final table lineup was determined and after another intense session, only five players remain, all vying for the coveted title and a first-place prize of €760,000.
Leading into the final day is Ukraine's Mykhailo Ostash, who is making an impressive debut at the EPT. Ostash bagged 9,870,000 chips (123 BB) after five days of play, already marking a career-defining success which could culminate with a trophy.
Hot on his heels is the seasoned Aliaksei Boika, who has the opportunity to become the first player to defend an EPT Main Event title at the same location. He could also join the exclusive club of players with two Main Event victories, a feat achieved by only four individuals thus far.
Currently third is Poland's Tomasz Brzezinski, who has also achieved a remarkable feat. Following a fourth-place finish at the EPT Barcelona in August, he reached his second consecutive Main Event final table. The final five are rounded out by Adria Calonge, enjoying a breakout tournament like leader Ostash, and Tom-Aksel Bedell, the leader from the previous two days, now heading into the final day with the short stack.
The final day kicks off today, October 12, at 12:30 PM, with the remaining players facing a tough battle for the prestigious title and six-figure winnings. You can watch the climax of the tournament live on YouTube and Twitch streams.
