Suarez Commands Day 5, Only 11 Players Remain
After Day 5 of the EPT Barcelona 2025 Main Event with a €5,300 buy-in, only 11 finalists out of the original 2,045 entries remain in contention for the title. Each has secured at least €102,150, while the champion will claim the prestigious title and a reward of €1,436,000.
Anton Suarez from Sweden has confidently taken the lead, amassing 15,340,000 in chips (153 BB). His rapid rise was sealed in the tournament's biggest hand so far against Tobias Leknes. Suarez, holding A s K d, weathered a massive all-in pre-flop from Leknes, who had A h 4 h. The board came A d 9 s 7 c K c 4 s, eliminating the Norwegian player in 13th place. Already the chipleader, Suarez further extended his lead over the pack.
In the final hand of the evening, Thomas Eychenne eliminated Joao Webber, hitting a set on the flop with Q d Q h against A d A h. The flop revealed Q c T h 2 c. Webber had a shot at a straight on the turn with J c, but the river 2 d confirmed a full house for the Frenchman Eychenne, who climbed to second place with a stack of 9,595,000.
Spain's hopes rest with the last two representatives, Sergio Carro Marin and Cesar Garcia, while France's Yohan Rascar, previously the Day 4 chipleader, experienced a significant drop and will enter the next day as the short stack.
The action continues on Saturday, August 30, at 12:00 PM, and you can follow the proceedings live via the official PS YouTube channel, where a livestream with exposed cards is available.
