Triton: Tan Xuan Short Deck Main Event Champion

The seventeenth Triton Jeju event took place on Wednesday, which was the $50k Short Deck Main Event. The tournament's prizepool had climbed to an astronomical $3,350,000 given the 67 entries, and the field was dominated by the player representing China, Tan Xuan.

This two-day treat for poker enthusiasts kicked off on Tuesday, March 19. Out of 67 entries, which included names like Ivey, Haxton, Greenwood and Jason Koon, 11 players made it to the payout seats.

The last not to make it into this elite grouping was Sam Greenwood, who got all his chips in the middle of the table with a hand of against Phil Ivey, who put him all in with . Due to shordeck rules, it was on the flop Almost a 50-50 coinflip. Turn brings Ivey a straight, and after an inconsequential river, it is Greenwood who leaves the tournament in the most unpopular spot.

During the bubble, however, Tan Xuan was able to extract the maximum number of chips with his aggressive play and so the elimination phase could begin, even with the prize money, without ICM pressure. After the elimination of Phil Ivey in 11th place ($84,000), Lun Loon ($84,000), P. Aorigele ($95,000) and S. Chidwick ($125,000), a 7-place final table was formed.

It was Tan Xuan who performed best in this lineup, never taking his foot off the gas and taking home a win of nearly 1 million.
