Triton: Mike Watson $25k event champion, Van Krevelen $50k ME chipleader

Canadian pro Mike Watson held off a huge Day 1 chiplead to secure his third Triton Poker Series victory. He never took his foot off the gas from the start of Day 2, and never once fell to second chipleader by way of start-to-finish. For his great performance, he takes home $380,000.

Watson topped the field with a total of 52 entries and a prizepool of 1,300,000. He adds his third triton win of the series after winning the $50k Short Deck event in Vietnam and the $30k Pot-limit Omaha event in Cyprus. The course of this tournament was clear-cut with a field full of pros. He made his way to the seven-seat table with an astronomical 137 antes (short deck BB) which was practically double that of second chipleader Mikita Badziakousky.

Stacks at the final table

Mike Watson - 5,465,000 (137 antes)
Mikita Badziakouski - 2,520,000 (63 antes)
Wai Kin Yong - 2,320,000 (58 antes)

Ren Lin - 1,675,000 (42 antes)
Seth Davies - 945,000 (24 antes)
Lun Loon - 860,000 (22 antes)

However, Badziakouski had to settle for fifth place and will have to wait for his fifth Triton title. His executioner was none other than Watson himself, who stacked a full house with pocket sevens to Mikita's flushdraw. The flush didn't hold on the river and Badziakouski settled for fifth place with a $104,000 payday.

After the other players busted out, we got to headsup play, where Watson held a chiplead of 3 to 1. On the last hand, Chinese regular Ren Lin got all in with a pair of into a flip against . Board however, nullified Ren's pair and he had to settle for the runner-up position and a $273,000 prize.
