EPT: Main Event FPS breaks the record in advance

The opening stop of the 2024 EPT makes it clear from the start that we're in for some of the best poker in days to come. Traditionally, the festival kicked off with a €1,100 FPS event, which already broke last year's record during Flight 1C!

As you know, the second half of February on the poker map of Europe will be focused mainly on Paris, where the EPT brand returns for the second time in its history. Renovated venue and big ambitions from the very first day signal a great poker holiday that has already managed to rewrite an important record!

Yesterday we informed you about the start of the €1,100 FPS Main Event, where the first two flights produced a total of 514 entries. Last year's record saw a total of 1,606 entries, and so we expected the next two flighters out of the planned 6 to be much closer to that number. But not even the most optimistic person expected what happened yesterday!

Record broken ahead of schedule

Preparing 130 tables for this festival was obviously a good idea, as the tournament hall was bursting at the seams yesterday. Flight 1C recorded a whopping total of 1,208 entries, which was then supplemented by Flight 1D with 540 entries later in the evening. In total, the entries counter currently reads 2,262 and that's the final two flights to go today!

First trophy goes to the Netherlands

Yesterday we also informed you about the start of the €10k Mystery Bounty event, which waited for its final numbers until the start of Day 2. 79 players eventually took care of the €988,800 prizepool thanks to 103 entries, half of which went to the mystery envelopes as usual. The biggest share of the prizepool went to Dutch champion Duco Ten Haven, who, in addition to his first trophy, took home a €126,500 plus another €117,500 in bounties.

The road to victory was certainly not an easy one, as Ten Haven had to deal with the likes of Elias Gutierrez, Mike Watson and Adrian Mateos at the final table. "It's amazing, really incredible. It's my very first EPT and immediately the biggest hit of my career. I didn't even plan to play this event, but since I've been living in Paris for a long time, I gave it a shot."
