Paris EPT gets underway, first day of play welcomes many familiar faces

A new venue, new ambitions and the top-notch poker you've all come to expect - the European Poker Tour's spectacular series has returned to the French capital, and from day one, it's made it clear that there's plenty to look forward to!

Started! The EPT's historic second stop in Paris has relocated to Le Palais des Congrès this year, bringing 46 top-notch tournaments over the next few days. The wide-ranging line-up includes favourites such as the ME and HR FPS series, as well as several High Rollers with 5-figure buy-ins, and of course the €5,300 Main Event to top it all off.

Live streams

As has become a good habit, live streams are inherent to every EPT, providing viewers with the atmosphere and poker of the event. It all kicks off on Monday 19 February with a stream from the ME FPS final table, followed by five days of streaming from the Main Event of the entire festival from Wednesday 21 February onwards.

It all kicks off with the FPS Main Event

Traditionally, EPT festivals are kicked off by their "little sister", the €1,100 Main Event of the respective sub-series (Eureka, FPS, Estrellas...). The Paris stop is no exception, which yesterday offered those interested in playing two flights of the €1,100 FPS Main Event. In total, this tournament will offer 6 opening days, two will be played today, and the final two tomorrow.

In total, Flighters 1A and 1B yesterday took care of 514 entries, with the top 77 players advancing. German Fabian Niederreiter currently sits at the top of the leaderboard, but among the advancing names there are also such names as Maria Konnikova, Marle Spragg, Daniel Rezaei, Felix Schneiders and Maria Lampropulos. Last year this event produced 1,606 entries, so we're curious to see if these numbers can be topped.

€10k Mystery Bounty

For those whose budget allows, the first day of the €10,200 Mystery Bounty event was also prepared yesterday. It produced a total of 71 entries and 46 advancers out of them, but these are not the final numbers as registration for the event is still open. The player field was just teeming with familiar faces, and the likes of Jean-Noel Thorel, Orpen Kisacikoglu, Artur Martirosian, Chris Brewer, Niklas Astedt, Dimitar Danchev, Alejandro Lococo, and Sam Greenwood are sure to continue their play today.
