Throughout the event, we kept fans updated on our website and Instagram, delivering original daily content and recapping the action as it unfolded. Time flew and yesterday, the festival reached its grand finale.

Main Event Reaches Its Climax

After the record-breaking edition of The HendonMob Championship, all eyes were on the 550€ Main Event, which came with a massive 500.000€ guarantee. The early days of the tournament saw an impressive 1,053 entries, and by Day 2 only 22 players remained in contention for the title. Fans were able to follow the local hopefuls and international contenders on the tournament’s official Live Stream:

Estonia’s Richard Koppel entered the final day as the chip leader after dominating for much of the tournament, cruising through the field all the way to the final table. However, his lead was soon snatched away by the local favorite, Ondřej Már, who edged ahead by just a few blinds at the start of the final showdown.

Final Table Chip Counts:

Place Player Country Chipcount
1 Ondrej Mar Czech 10,100,000
2 Richard Koppel Estonia 9,895,000
3 Giuseppe Grupposo Italy 8,095,000
4 Rasmus Lundstroem Finland 7,310,000
5 Sami Pullianinen Finland 6,980,000
6 Giorgi Surmava Georgia 4,100,000
7 Oliver Kubalek Sweden 3,655,000
8 “Schulle” Germany 1,530,000
9 “Easygame” Portugal 875,000

As the hours ticked by, players departed one after another: “Easygame,” Giuseppe Grupposo, Rasmus Lundstroem, “Schulle,” Sami Pulliainen, Giorgi Surmava, and eventually the aforementioned Richard Koppel, whose stellar run ended in third place for 38.700€.

Ace on the River

From the very first hand at the final table, Ondřej Már was relentless in his pursuit of the title. Once Koppel was eliminated, only Sweden’s Oliver Kubalek stood between Már and the trophy. Már began the heads-up duel with a towering chip advantage—holding 99 big blinds to Kubalek's slim 6 big blinds.

With such a lopsided chip count, any discussion of a deal was off the table, even as play progressed. Kubalek managed a double-up right in the third hand of heads-up play (A h 8 c versus J c 3 c), and then steadily climbed to nearly 30 big blinds. That set the stage for a tense, hour-long battle.

But despite Kubalek’s comeback and the swings in momentum, Már managed to close out his dream run in style—and a dose of good luck certainly helped seal the deal. In the final hand, all the chips went in pre-flop with Már holding A s 3 h against Kubalek’s pocket Q c Q s. The flop came T s 6 h 2 s—no help for the Czech player. The turn, 8 c, left Már drawing to just three outs. But the river brought the A d, sending the title and the roaring crowd’s cheers his way.

With no deal struck in the closing match, runner-up Oliver Kubalek earned 55.000€, while Ondřej Már took home the full 91.001€—the biggest live tournament cash of his career so far. Both players will be sharing their thoughts about this epic heads-up very soon; exclusive interviews with the finalists are on the way.
