The Silent Killer Outsmarts the Favorites
At the BSOP festival, the world's poker elite gathered for the series' most expensive event, the $100,000 Super High Roller. The tournament attracted 36 entries, creating a prize pool of $3.4 million. Despite the strong presence of local players in Brazil, it was the Czechs who had the final say.
The final day saw the last six players battling it out. The table featured stars of the series, including local hero Felipe Boianovsky, Estonian high roller Ottomar Ladva, and, of course, Martin Kabrhel. However, it was the 26-year-old Žižka, playing like a machine, who claimed the title. While Kabrhel's loud comments echoed throughout the room, Žižka kept to his calm strategy: no chatter, no gestures, just pure, analytical poker. The contrast between the compatriots was stark throughout the final table, but it was Żižka’s quiet focus that proved to be the ultimate weapon.

Žižka took home $1,200,000, marking not only his career high but also one of the biggest Czech triumphs in high-stakes tournaments. “To be honest, I still don't know what this means,” Žižka admitted shortly after his victory. “It's another great success in another country. It certainly means a lot to me. I always try to deliver my best performance. I've loved the game since I was little, so I just enjoy playing it all,” added the eminent backgammon player, who experienced a breakthrough year in poker.
The final day offered a thrilling spectacle, culminating in a heads-up between Žižka and Felipe Boianovsky. In the decisive hand, the Czech went all-in pre-flop with T s T h, and the Brazilian called holding A d 9 d. The board 3 s J d 7 h 4 s 4 h did not bring the ace needed by the local player, and Žižka could start his celebrations.
