Bryn Kenney Still Reigns with $80 Million, Stephen Chidwick Trails by Just $4 Million

Article cover

Bryn Kenney first skyrocketed to the top of the global All-Time Money List in early 2019 after winning the Aussie Millions Main Event, earning him A$1,272,598 and temporarily placing him ahead of Justin Bonomo (who briefly reclaimed the lead). However, the defining moment of his reign as "world number one" came at the Triton Million in London in August 2019, where he netted a record $20,563,324 from a heads-up deal, sealing his spot at the top of the historical charts.

Before Kenney, Daniel Negreanu held the top position for years, leading the All-Time Money List unchallenged from 2014 until July 2018, when Bonomo surpassed him following a victory in the Big One for One Drop.

At the close of 2025, Kenney reached an astonishing milestone, despite the year being relatively "quiet" by his standards — earning under $7 million from live tournaments, his smallest annual increase since 2022. Still, this was enough to push the bar to an unimaginable level — crossing the $80,000,000 mark with a $50k cash at WSOP Paradise.

How the Top Players Fared in 2025

Comparing results from December 31st of last year to this year's on The Hendon Mob rankings reveals a clear trend: Kenney still leads, but the pressure from behind is palpable. While Kenney enjoyed a comfortable lead over second-place Justin Bonomo in the first half of the year, Stephen Chidwick increasingly asserted himself from June onwards.

Though Kenney held onto his throne, Chidwick's impressive momentum in the year's latter half reduced Kenney's "comfortable" lead to the equivalent of one major Triton win. Over 2025, Chidwick cashed over $12.5 million, $5 million more than Kenney.

Will 2026 End Kenney's Reign?

If the trends of this year continue, Chidwick could easily surpass Kenney in 2026. By the end of 2025, Chidwick was just about $4,000,000 shy of the lead, having outperformed Kenney in annual earnings every year since 2020. Were both to replicate their 2025 figures in 2026, Chidwick would top the list by around $2,000,000.

Yet another player could enter the fray: Jason Koon. Should he maintain his form and have a standout year, he too could realistically seize the crown within 12 months.

As 2025 draws to a close, it sets the stage for new narratives. Kenney has broken the $80,000,000 mark, retaining his crown, but now with the sense that it’s made of fragile glass rather than gold. A single season, a remarkable festival, just one "right" month — and 2026 could see a new name at the top of the leaderboard.

2025: A Year of Standouts

Looking purely at annual earnings for 2025, some different names made the headlines. Besides the aforementioned Chidwick, poker media spotlighted Kayhan Mokri, Jesse Lonis, and Seth Davies — each of whom achieved eight-figure earnings from live tournaments in 2025. Lonis closed the year topping the money list with $13,334,563, with Mokri hot on his heels at $13,255,542 and Chidwick rounding out the elite trio with $12,627,025.

While the annual money list celebrates the "hottest" player of the season, the All-Time Money List rewards endurance — and 2025 demonstrated how quickly historical rankings can change in a few months. Just one or two major hits from significant series (Triton, PGT, WSOP Paradise) can dramatically alter the standings.
