Golden Lion for a Miraculous River
Ceesvin entered the final table seventh in chips, yet showcased a mix of patience, luck, and skill at crucial moments. His journey to the title began with a dramatic twist when his A d A c clashed with Peng Zhou’s two pair after the flop of T s 7 s 9 c. The turn 8 c changed nothing, but the river 7 c delivered salvation and nearly doubled his stack.
From this moment, Ceesvin gained momentum, eliminating Yita Choong and Bizhen Li, and climbed to the top of the leaderboard. The final table was dominated by Chinese players, with six out of nine finalists hailing from China. Among them, Lili Tang stood out, knocking out several opponents, including Hao Zhang, who started the day as the chipleader. Eventually, Lili Tang secured her spot for a heads-up showdown with Ceesvin.
Entering heads-up, Ceesvin held a significant lead of 55 million to 22 million in chips, and the battle with Tang was over swiftly. In just the fourth hand, the outcome was decided when Tang, holding Q h Q c, sensed a chance for a comeback, but Ceesvin’s 7 c 5 d hit a straight on the flop 6 s 3 h 4 h, sealing his victory.
“This is crazy!” exclaimed the newly-crowned champion in his first reaction. Last year, Ceesvin finished second in the APT Taipei Classic 2024 Main Event, and he longed for redemption, which he finally achieved. He also set a record win, surpassing the million-dollar mark in career earnings.
