Event info
After a successful premiere last year, WPT Prime Slovakia is returning to Bratislava, where it will offer 18 different events over 12 days. The opening tournament will be the WPT Opener event on April 5-12, offering a €250,000 guarantee for just a €200 buy-in. A total of ten flighters can be entered into the tournament, which will be followed by Day 2 and then the grand finale.
The main event of the entire festival will be the WPT PRIME Main Event, which at a buy-in of €1,100 will guarantee €500,000 along with the coveted title of WPT Champion. The dates for the Main Event are April 11-14, when you can expect three classic and two turbo flighters, where you can exchange your buy-in for a 40,000 starting stack.
There's something for everyone at this festival, with the Seniors Event, Ladies Championship, PLO and PKO events, and of course there will be events for the most demanding of players. There are two High Rollers (NLH and PLO) with a buy-in of €3,000, as well as two Super High Rollers (NLH and PLO) with a buy-in of €5,000!
One thing is already clear, the poker event will attract players from all over the world to Bratislava and we all have something to look forward to. We'll be following the festival closely and will bring you plenty of valuable content from it!
LivereportThe second day of play at the WPT Prime Main Event served its purpose, and after hours of play, we've reached the final final table. The final "bubble boy" was finally Jozef "Santa" Komorny (10th place for €10,800).
95 players battled it out to advance, and it was these nine players, led by Hungarian Andras Matrai, who successfully made it to the end:

The game slows down the closer we get to the last two tables, and no wonder. Each payjump is already more pronounced and the vision of a lifetime reward is already in every player's eyes. But let's now reflect on those who will have to wait for the WPT title:
It's certainly worth mentioning the 22nd place for Christos Vettas, who followed up the great success he had just two days ago when he took the trophy and the €25,320 prize in the Opener event after heads-up play as the winner.
For a little while, we witnessed a huge hand that started with a UTG flush to 60k by Slovak Jozef Cibicek. He found his opponent in WPT Vienna 2015 champion Konstantinos Nanos of Greece, who decided to 3-bet for 230k from the BB. Cibicek left nothing to chance, sending a 4-bet of 450k across the line, which was followed by a 5-bet of 820k from his opponent. The sixth raise meant he was all in, and we were in for a showdown of this record-breaking 2.5m pot.

Those days when everyone said that live poker was dead in the summer are long gone, and the Bratislava Poker Festival is proof of that! Put the dates July 16-21 in your diaries for a week of great poker. Last year this tournament surpassed its half-million dollar guarantee and the prizepool stood at €542,590 - will this year's event manage to surpass that figure?

With the WPT Festival slowly coming to a close, it's only fitting that we give you an idea of what else is in store for you at Card Casino. Coming up next month, the popular Spanish Vamos Poker Tour series will be returning here from May 19-26. Players will be treated to a total of 11 poker events, kicking off with the €400 Mystery Bounty event with a €50,000 guarantee. The Monsterstack Event, PLO Championship, Ladies Event, the €50,000 One-Day 50k Event and the €700 Highroller will also get a place during the festival.
The most watched tournament will traditionally be the Main Event, which will tempt players with a €300,000 guarantee with only a €350 buy-in. Nine flights await from Wednesday 22 May, followed by Saturday's Day 2 and finally Sunday's final table on 26 May from 15:00.

By eliminating Alexander Cab in 48th place, we not only made another payjump, but we also cut today's field exactly in half. There's still a long way to go for us though, keep following along with us.
The Czech Republic's Roman Papacek will not become the champion of this tournament. He got his 20bb over the line with a combination of , which he unluckily bumped into under Szentmihalyi's hand. Blank board help did not come and we are one player closer to forming the final table.
We come to the table when the turn is laid out and Kuertoesi bet 60k, Emil Bise called. The river came the , both players check and Emil Bise showed . Kuertoesi sent his cards into the muck and fell for 220k. Emil was 550k behind after this hand.
On the next hand, Emil found himself with ace king and at the same time Kuertoesi pushed with 8c 8h. Both ace and king arrived on the board, and Kuertoesi was out of the tournament.

Card Casino Bratislava's poker staple returns in April! We're talking about the Grand Prix tournament, of course, which comes with a €100,000 guarantee for just a €100 buy-in. A total of 9 opening days will be played from Tuesday, April 16 to Sunday, April 21, each playing down to the top 10% of entries. All of the advancing players will meet at the final day tables on Sunday, April 21 from 16:30, and at the end of the day we will know the name of the champion who will take home a 5-figure cash prize!
Walking through the poker room, it's impossible to miss the huge stack of Hungarian player Andras Matrai. He's facing a full 2,000,000, which apparently puts him in the lead at this point.
Heads up after the others folded, Raffael Wadl in the small blind against Kurt Radinger in the big blind. Radinger calls all in for 536k from the big and Wadl takes a double time pot to change his mind. Eventually he shoves his approx 280k into the middle of the table. Slovakian player Jozef Cibicek successfully doubled-up his 170k stack after getting all his chips behind the line on the flop with a combination of . His opponent Ariel Puterman turned in a showdown , but much to the delight of the home players, none of his outs came on the board and the Slovak player is now double-up.
In Day 2, players are dealt 4 time cards at the start, and 4 extra cards at the last 24 players.
A while ago, the "time extension" was used by Israeli player Ran Shahar in heads up play against Hungarian Tamas Boszoeny.

The second day of play of the WPT Opener met its goal, producing 15 finalists from an initial 217 players. They will battle it out for the €32,620 prize and of course the winner's trophy starting at 3pm today at the Card Casino.
