The Rise of Online Poker

Online poker has become a big hit, even for high roller players. This is likely due to its increased accessibility over more traditional options as well as its ability to integrate unique payment methods such as cryptocurrency. After all, the best Bitcoin casinos for poker players offer some of the tightest security protections, the fastest transaction speeds, and the quickest transaction times out there. When you combine this with the truly impressive bonuses and rewards they offer to both newbie and more seasoned players, it's easy to see how these platforms have garnered attention from players of all abilities and bankrolls.

Ren Lin’s Apology

Ren Lin has apologized both to the poker player who reported him and to the public in a lengthy tweet released on X. On this platform, he took complete responsibility for his actions and explained how he had not been thinking clearly at the time, and acted on instinct out of excitement for his friend. He told how, on reflection, he knows that he would not be happy if one of his own opponents had sought external advice for their game, and that he knows what he did was wrong. He extended his apology to GGPoker, which is the poker site that he himself represents.

He also assured all those involved that he did not benefit in any way from the support he offered, and that he was acting as a friend and not someone who would be rewarded  in any way from this friend’s win. This friend has since returned the majority of the winning money, and Rin has promised to cover whatever remains personally. He expressed a deep shame and remorse for his actions and stated that he is “prepared to accept all penalties.”

Daniel Negreanu’s Support

There has been some debate initiated by the DQ on social media as to whether or not Ren Lin should be banned from all future live tournaments for the poker transgressions he committed. However, the support of Ren’s colleague Negreanu has certainly helped to ease these tensions.

Although Negreanu didn’t directly involve himself in the debate, he did take to social media to share his views on the event and paint Lin in a somewhat positive light. On X, the poker star wrote in response to Lin’s apology, “This all rings very true to me, knowing Ren for several years and his character in regards to poker and his passion for it. He made a mistake trying to help a friend he was excited for, and I think this apology owns it appropriately. He accepts his consequences responsibly IMO”

Such words of advocacy may be what is needed to push the final verdict into Rin’s favor, as it suggests that there truly was no intentional foul play occurring and that the player simply made a serious mistake in the heat of the moment.
