WSOP: Main Event has already conquered 8,000 entries, will it be the biggest in history?

It's that time again when everything in the poker world revolves around only one thing - the WSOP Main Event. He came back in full force this year and is attacking a 16-year-old record after the completion of all opening days.

WSOP Main Event – the three most beautiful words in poker. After less than a year, it's that time again, when the tournament of all tournaments returns to the scene, but again it comes with a big ambition - to become the biggest in history. Millions of dollars are gradually being prepared for the best, this year's bracelet has already been presented to the public, which is, as usual, brutal again!

After the initial 1A, which brought 900 entries, of which 638 went through, flight 1B took place, which produced 1,245 entries. By the end of the day, this field had shrunk to number 634 and there were many names of world poker - Andre Akkari, Eugene Katchalov, Gianluca Speranza, Erik Seidel and Sylvain Loosli.

Before flight 1C, the organizers asked the players to come to it as much as possible and not to leave everything to the last minute, as flight 1D already had thousands of seats booked in advance. Due to this, the structure has also changed and day 2 will be divided not into AB/CD, but into ABC/D. In the end, organizers managed to move some players to 1C, which recorded 1,800 entries and of them 1,376 survived.

The last and biggest opening day took place last night, which was opened with a speech by the actor Vince Vaughn, known for example from the comedy Dodgeball. Since his "Shuffle Up and Deal" call, Bally's and Paris have been in full swing, and unofficial numbers so far say around 4,350 players turned on the final flight. Since interested players can jump into the tournament until the beginning of day 2 (today and tomorrow), we will have to wait for the final numbers, but everyone is already talking loudly that the record 8,872 entries from 2006 will finally be broken. Currently, the entries counter is at the level of 8,061, of which 5,935 players continue to play.

Last night was just full of familiar faces and famous names trying to find their luck and successfully start the poker marathon. Among those who have succeeded are, for example, Chris Moneymaker, Koray Aldemir, Greg Merson, Eli Elezra, Mikita Badziakouski, Robert Mizrachi, Joe Hachem and Johnny Chan.

On the other hand, Phil Hellmuth, who has not yet entered the Main Event, jumps into the tournament of tournaments every year with great flare. This year will not be an exception, when Phil announced that he will jump into day 2 and it will be in style again! On the other hand, the living legend Doyle Brunson, who planned to play a few events this year, but due to the threat of Covid and other diseases, will definitely miss this year's WSOP on the advice of his doctor.
