WSOP 2024 schedule revealed, up to 99 gold bracelets to be handed out

The 55th World Series of Poker will take place in 2024, with up to 99 events on the schedule, giving away 99 gold bracelets. It all kicks off spectacularly with the first event on May 28, with the champion of the prestigious $10,000 Main Event to be crowned on July 17.

The World Series of Poker has been with us for several decades. Specifically, since 1970, the players have met annually in Las Vegas, USA, to measure their strength face-to-face. The number of tournaments during the series has been steadily increasing, as we will see again this year. From last year's 95 live bracelets, the number will increase to 99 this year.

The 55th edition of the prestigious WSOP kicks off on May 28 with the first events, with the entire series running until July 17, when we will also see the champion of the most watched Main Event. Last year, Daniel Weinman was triumphant, taking home a record $12,100,000. Will he be able to break the record of 10,043 entries this year?

Tournament news continues at this year's WSOP

There is no shortage of tournament news during the WSOP series, and we can see that this year too. The first new event is Event #1 - the $5,000 Champions Reunion, to which all former champions have been invited. Anyone who manages to knock out a champion will get a free entry into this year's $10,000 Main Event.

Another great new addition is the tournament numbered #41 - $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em; Pot- Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot (8 Handed). Apart from the long name, it is also interesting for its rules. This is a tournament in which each player pays an ante before play, skipping the preflop action and going straight to two flops. Yes the dealer turns over two flops and a round of betting ensues. Two turns and two river will be dealt as well. Whoever wants to win the whole pot must win on both boards. However, it often happens that the game ends in a two-player split.

WSOP 2024 will also feature the popular Mystery Bounty tournament, which will also be played in a PLO variant, and the Senior Highroller, which you can enter if you're over 50 years old. The tournament line-up is truly diverse and the WSOP bracelet winners hall of fame is sure to grow once again.

Will the Main Event surpass last year's numbers?

Definitely the main attraction of the entire 55th WSOP 2024 will be the $10,000 Main Event, which will be looking to surpass last year's numbers. Last year's edition broke several records right off the bat, including a 17-year high in the number of entries (8,773) or the amount of prize money for the winner. In fact, last year produced a record 10,043 entries, which meant a prizepool of $93,399,900. American Daniel Weinman dominated the entire tournament and took home the gold bracelet and $12,100,000 in prize money.

The opening Flight 1A is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, 2024, with the opening days of play running until July 6. The final nine will be announced at the end of Day 8 on July 14 and the overall champion will be crowned on July 17, 2024. Who will make history at the world's most prestigious WSOP series?
