The owner of seventeen WSOP bracelets has once again stirred up a wave of controversy, this time taking shot at Isaac Haxton. Phil doesn't like his face mask, which Ike has worn on his face at every tournament since the Covid days.

It's been a while since the name of the record holder and 17-time WSOP champion has been mentioned in the media, so Phil Hellmuth reminded us of himself. This time he took shot at PGT Player of the Year Isaac Haxton, whom he accuses of wearing a face mask, which he has worn on his face during every tournament since the Covid days.

In an interview with Poker.org, Hellmuth says that live tournaments are not online tournaments and so a player's face should be visible. "No one should cover their face unless you use your own hands to do it. This is not online poker. In live poker, tells matter: the skill of hiding your tells is important, and another skill is to read your opponents' tells," Hellmuth wrote.

Hellmuth goes on to say that his issue with Haxton wearing a respirator is neither political nor personal, but purely poker. In fact, he sees a potential advantage in wearing the drape/respirator. After all, in poker you routinely need to read your opponents, and you often get information directly from your face.

Phil's comments have once again sparked heated debate, with Shaun Deeb, for example, saying that these comments by Phil are some of his worst and sarcastically calling for a ban on the wearing of hoodies and sunglasses.

The most interesting response came from Lewis Spencer, who wrote: "I've always thought we need fewer people in capes and more people entering the tournament hall dressed like Poseidon on the second day of a $100,000 tournament."
