Players' voices have been heard - PokerStars introduces new rewards system

PokerStars, the leading online poker room, has finally listened to the voices of its players and is changing its rewards system after years of change. The announced changes are particularly aimed at high-volume players, who can now earn up to 60% rakeback. The poker room announced the start of the new system on January 22.

The new reward system is reminiscent of the days of Supernova and Supernova Elite levels. Their abolition eight years ago disgusted many online grinders, so PokerStars is targeting them in its new releases. It is announcing new perks including up to 60% rakeback and dedicated account managers. What's more, the rakeback will be paid daily and in cash, bringing an end to rewards in the form of tickets or starcoins.

The most significant enhancement to the new PokerStars Rewards program is the removal of weekly challenges and the provision of a reward for every penny of rake. For example, in the old program, if a player generated $250 in rake in a month, they earned 18.5% rakeback and could earn an additional 10-40% after completing a challenge. However, many players did not meet these challenges and were left with a base level of rakeback.

In the new program, the same player will reach Silver status and receive 20% rakeback on a $250 rake. The rake increase will no longer be tied to meeting the challenges. As Pokerstars Online Director Chris Straghalis said, the new system will be much clearer and more predictable: 'Rewards programs tend to be quite convoluted or complicated. We wanted to go back to our 'do X and get Y' roots. Previously, players would get a rakeback challenge, but the size and requirements had changed, so players didn't know what to expect. With our new rewards program, players know that if they play a certain amount, they will get a specific rakeback rate and will be rewarded the same way every time."

It will also be easier to track the rake and tournament fees produced. Players will earn reward points at a rate of 100 points per $1, regardless of game type and reward level. The introduced rewards system will have up to eight tiers compared to the previous six. Select and Select Plus are coming to the game, designed just for high-volume players. Reaching the Select tier requires you to generate $50,000 to $100,000 in rake in a year, which will earn you 50% rakeback and access to promotions exclusive to select players. Anyone who generates more than $100,000 in rake in a year can become a Select Plus member. The base rakeback rate is 50% and increases to 60% when playing Zoom and Spin & Gos.

"Every change we make is another step forward. After player feedback, we've switched from random chests to direct rakeback. Players have told us they don't like the rakeback challenges, so this is another step forward. We will continue to communicate with our players, we will continue to listen to them, whether it be at our live events, across our community insights group, through our Discord or third party forums," said Straghalis.

The game room has already announced the introduction of the changes for January 22, and players have a lot to look forward to soon. What do you think, are we finally going to see a system that is at least close to the golden days?
