Fedor Holz wins his fourth Triton title, pocketing $786,000

German player Fedor Holz became the champion of the Triton tournament for the fourth time. Yesterday, he dominated the first tournament of the Triton Jeju series, taking home $786,000. Today, we will get to know the champion of tournament number two.

Yesterday was the final day of the first Triton Jeju tournament, a $15,000 NLH 8-Handed with 269 entries and a prize pool of $4,035,000. There was a $786,000 prize waiting for the winner, which was contested by 48 players.

The final day

The list of finalists was traditionally full of star names, as we are used to during Triton tournaments. There was also Czech player Roman Hrabec, who finished in 18th place with a prize of $41,500. Seth Gottlieb made his way to the 9-seat final table as chipleader with a stack as high as 15,525,000.

The first to bust out was Pieter Aerts, who started the final table with only 5 blinds. He took home $81,000 for his 9th place finish. He was followed by Ken Tong ($98,000), Josh McCully ($134,000) and Lun Loon ($182,000). Play in the last five players saw Fedor Holz take the chip lead.

Fifth place went to Lithuania's Dominykas Mikolaitis, whose $240,000 payday was the highest of his live tournament career. Fourth place went to Nick Petrangelo, who took home $303,000, while Dimitar Danchev finished in third place with $375,000.

Final heads-up

Seth Gottlieb and Fedor Holz faced each other in the final heads-up, with Seth having a 55bb stack and Fedor having a 35bb stack. Although Holz started with a worse stack, he was able to eventually turn heads-up play in his favour. On the last hand, Fedor's pocket jacks held up against Seth's Q-10, and Fedor Holz became the Triton champion for the fourth time. The German pro earned $786,000 and Seth Gottlieb took home $500,000.


Today we will get to know the champion of the second tournament

The second Triton Jeju tournament to move into the finals today is the $20,000 NLH 8-Handed. This one saw 225 entries and a prizepool of $4.5 million. There were 39 players able to cash here, with a mincash worth $31,000. There is $904,000 waiting for the winner here and the runner-up will take home $599,000.

32 players have made it through to today's final table and all of them have already pocketed at least $31,000. The chipleader here is Germany's Tobias Schwecht with a stack of 5,190,000, followed by Austria's Roland Rokita with a stack of 3,885,000. Some of the well-known names here are Benjamin Chalot (1,940,000), Michael Watson (1,870,000), Kayhan Mokri (1,845,000), Santhosh Suvarna (1,285,000), Matthias Eibinger (1,090,000), Danny Tang (825,000), Roman Hrabec (730,000), Mikita Badziakouski (550,000), Dan Smith (460,000) and Leon Sturm (395,000).

The final day will kick off again at 1pm local time, which is 4am our time, when the blinds will start at 30k/60k/60k and players will run through 30 minute levels.
