EPT: Unstoppable Wiciak rides through Main Event, O'Dwyer chipleads €10k High Roller
If you've been following us day by day, you'll know that yesterday we wrote about the last 32 players in the EPT Main Event. It's rarely done, but Simon Wiciak is proof that it can be done. In a packed field of players, after another seven-plus hours of play, chipleader Wiciak managed to hold on to his "pole position", and well, he'll be jumping into Day 6 from the top player position today. Only 15 opponents will be up against him here, and they will play together for a seat at the final table.
Wiciak's run is no coincidence, as his huge stack of 15,705,000 is more than double that of runner-up Carl Shaw (6,680,000). Former EPT champion Robin Ylitalo (4,785,000) remains in contention, as does pro Andre Akkari (685,000), who once again occupies the last spot in the players' chipcount.

The last two Main Event tables will return to play at 12:00pm, when they have 14 minutes of the 40k/80k level to play. The tournament average still stands at a luxurious 50bb, but you'll be able to enjoy the game again from 12:30pm thanks to the Live Stream. As for the money, each of the semi-finalists already has a nice €63,250 in their pockets.
The €3,000 Mystery Bounty, a popular format nowadays that has found its fans in Barcelona, among other places, saw its winner yesterday. The final 1,339 entries meant approximately 4 million in the prizepool, which was split into the traditional prizepool (2/3) and the mystery envelopes (1/3). The biggest prizes in this tournament were the two €200,000 prize envelopes drawn by Jan Bronkhorst and Samy Boujmala.
During the final day, it looked for a long time like the triumph of the famous Austrian representative Armin Rezaei, who went to the final table as chipleader and used this advantage to the fullest for a long time. However, he eventually found the winner in the final heads-up, where he had to leave the €374,064 prize and the trophy to Portugal's Ricardo De Andrade.

Another tournament definitely worth mentioning is the €10,300 EPT High Roller, which had its first day of play yesterday. The relatively high buy-in was paid a total of 433 times during the event, and by the end of the day 187 advancers had formed. Those are led by Irish pro Steve O'Dwyer, but names such as Teun Mulder, Simone Andrian, Andras Nemeth, Conor Beresford, Timothy Adams, Patrik Antonius, Dimitar Danchev and John Juanda also continue to play.
