EPT: Padraig O'Neill is the new Main Event Champion

The winner in the end was Padraig O'Neill, who entered the final table as a shortstack. He refused to debate the deal and took home the full prize of €1,030,000.

At 12:30pm, the EPT Prague final table kicked off, with the last 5 players to reach the final table having secured €271,660.

EPT: The unstoppable Jon Kyte is clearly heading for the championship! EPT: The unstoppable Jon Kyte is clearly heading for the championship!

A €1,030,000 prize awaits the winner, which unfortunately Czech representative Adam Wagner will not be able to reach. First, Padraig O'Neill ran over him when Wagner held deuces and O'Neill held jacks. However, he later managed to double through chipleader Jon Kyte with A-J to A-T .

The Czech representative's fatal hand was A5, which sent him less than 14 blinds into the hand. Padraig O'Neill held a pair of tens that held and eliminated Adam Wagner in fifth place for €271,660.

Next to finish in fourth place was Chinese player Cheng Zhao whose A-Q was not enough to beat the Norwegian player's A-K. He took home €353,240 for fourth place .

After this hand, Padraig O'Neill was already making his presence felt as he began to take on mega chipleader Jon Kyte. Padraig O'Neill sent home Italian player Umberto Ruggeri in third place for €459,240, which sent O'Neill into heads-up play as the mega chipleader with a stack of up to 31 million. He was opposed by Jon Kyte with a stack of 7.3 million.

Padraig O'Neill entered the final day as the short stack, but his play managed to take him all the way to the final heads-up. In a heads-up match that lasted over 4 hours, the chips were moved from side to side, with players trading chiplaying positions amongst themselves.

Finally, however, came the last hand of the night. The players went at each other with hands of 10-5 (Kyte) and K-10 (O'Neill). The board was no good to either of them, and so we knew the winner of the EPT Prague 2023 Main Event. The winner was Padraig O'Neill, who came from shortstack to the top and managed to beat even mega chipleader Jon Kyte. Padraig O'Neill refused to debate the deal and took home €1,030,000. Jon Kyte took second place for €643,000. Congratulations!
