EPT: Ole Schemion wins the €25,000 High Roller, ending a seven-year wait for the EPT title
Although poker action is escalating in the Bahamas and Vegas these days, most players from Europe are interested in a different destination. That's because the Czechmetropolis is once again hosting the EPT's popular pre-Christmas stop after a year, which traditionally kicks off with the popular Eureka. With a buy-in of €1,100 over six flights, the tournament broke its own record and the final 4,403 entries here means a prizepool worth €4,226,880.
A tough second day awaited all of the advancers from the six flights yesterday, with a total of 659 players taking part. At the end of the day, the field had been whittled down to the top 125 players, which is currently led by Poland's Marcin Dziubdziela. He is putting on a great one-man show in the tournament, first advancing from Flight 1C to second on chips, and then going on to take the overall chipleader position after a great hand d vay 2.
The PS ambassadors, namely Ramon Colillas (805,000) and Felix Schneiders (695,000), are also still in action. In total, 36 countries are represented on Day 3, and all of these representatives will continue their battles from 12:00pm on blinds of 15k/30k. Each of the players is guaranteed a €5,200 cashout, but all eyes are on the top of the payout structure, which boasts a sum of €511,710.
The end of a 7-year wait
Alongside the record-breaking Eureka, the second of the 25,000 high rollers took place, surpassing the numbers of the first edition (where Teun Mulder won €180,150). This time 18 players took care of 27 entries, and the best of the best was none other than Ole Schemion. The German pro ended a 7-year wait for an EPT title (he last won the €100k SHR at EPT Monte Carlo), and in addition to the trophy, he also added a €246,370 bounty to his rich resume.
