EPT: Main Event breaks attendance record, winner to bank €1,030,000

Day 2 of the EPT Main Event saw 11 CZ/SK players accomplish the mission of bursting the bubble. The journey to meet the new champion will continue today from 12:00, and there will also be a lot of world-class names!

As we informed you yesterday, after two days of play at this year's EPT Prague Main Event, the entries count had climbed to 1,250, which meant that 17 more entries were needed to set a new record. These were surpassed thanks to late registration, and 35 latecomers made it to the final 1,267 entries and a prizepool worth €6,232,250

A total of 332 Day 2 entrants faced a tough task yesterday, namely to survive the bursting of the bubble and make it among the 191 ITM players. Achieving this feat was achieved at the very end of the day, where the unlucky bubble-boy title was taken first by Vítězslav Čech, whose KK was cracked by a QQ combination under the hand of Hungarian Adamski, and immediately after him by Sebastien Matrige, who missed a flip with AQ against a pair of 66.

After the bubble burst, 16 more players had to say goodbye to the tournament by the end of the day, including Czech representatives Milan Simek (€8,420) and Jakub Čihar ( €9,100). In the end, 175 players made it to the stack pack and will jump into Day 3 today with €9,100 to play for sure. Everyone's goal will be to get as close as possible to the top of the payout structure, which boasts a sum of €1,030,000 reserved for the new champion.

Belgian player Arthur Thiriart is the best placed to do so so far, having amassed a stack worth 959,000. Other big names such as Max Neugebauer, Teun Mulder, Marle Spragg, Maria Lampropulos, Dario Sammartino, Leo Worthington-Leese, Dimitar Danchev, Grzegorz Glowny and Niklas Astedt continue to play.

The third day of play with 175 players will kick off at noon today, and play will continue in the blinds at 2,000/5,000 (avg 44bb). The live stream will start from 12:30pm and you can find it again on our website.
