David Docherty wins €1,150 Irish Open Main Event for €365,000

The tournament at the Royal Dublin Society attracted a total of 2,491 entries, making for a prize pool of €2,428,475, the biggest Irish Open Main Event ever.

The tournament that took place at the 130 poker tables at the spectacular Main Hall at theRoyal Dublin Society attracted a total of 2,491 entries, making for a prize pool of €2,428,475, the biggest Irish Open Main Event and biggest live poker tournament ever held in Ireland and beating the prizepool from last year by 22%. Among the the entries  who made it to the final day we were able to find many resounding names from the poker world such as Benny Glasser, British pro Steve Watts or American Kevin O´Donnell.

From the staggering ammount of entries a final table was created yesterday evening consisting of 9 players with certainty of at least €33,500 but their eyes where focusing on the trophy and €365,000 for the winner. The chipleader entering the final table was Irish delivery driver Declan Rice followed by Scottisch David Docherty.

These two players eventually ended in the final heads-up where after 50 minutes of play pokerstars qualifier Docherty was able to overcome Rice and took home the Irish Open Trophy and full €365,000. This cashout takes him to 5th place of the Scottisch all-time money list - with total live tournament winnings over 1 million dollars. Worth mentioning is also the 5th place of Irish poker legend Andy Black, who thanks to his €95,500 cashout is only few thousand dollars shy of making the top of Irish all-time money list.
