There is more and more happening in the field of high-stakes poker tournament series from year to year, but the Poker Masters series has already established itself for 8 years. The NLH Purple Jacket Championship brings a packed schedule every year, with 5-figure buy-in tournaments attracting the biggest names in world poker. In the past, such greats as Steffen Sontheimer, Michael Addamo, Sean Winter or the controversial Ali Imsirovic won the title from this series.
Current edition
A total of ten events with buy-ins from $10,000 to $50,000 will take place this year from September 14 to 26. Each event will have two playing days, the first one always leads to the final table, which you can then watch live. As usual, you can watch this year's Poker Masters exclusively on the PokerGO platform.
Players in these tournaments not only collect points for the year-long PGT leaderboard, but also play for the overall title of Poker Masters champion. He will wear a custom-made purple jacket, with which he will also receive a bonus of $50,000. This event also belongs to the year-round PGT rankings, which at the end of the season will welcome the best 40 players who will compete in the final PGT Championship. The year 2023 is currently led by this year's WSOP Main Event champion Daniel Weinman, but in the top 10 we can also find honest grinders like Isaac Haxton, Cary Katz, Jeremy Ausmus and Chris Brewer.
First trophies awarded
The opening event with a buy-in of $10,000 showed the willingness and taste of the players, who took care of a total of 114 entries. Those for the top 17 meant a prizepool worth $1,140,000, of which Lithuanian representative Vladas Tamasauskas took home the largest amount. In addition to the trophy, he improved by $239,400, which means the equivalent of 239 points, after defeating the local Aram Zobian in heads-up.
At the moment of the end of the first event, the registration of the second one, which carried the same price tag of 10,000, was already being closed.
